Week 5
What a great week! The highlight might have been watching the faculty take on the 8th graders during our spirit assembly today! Conferences are Thursday and Friday meaning the students are only in school Monday-Wednesday! Please make sure you sign up. We are excited to see everyone at the homecoming game!
In science this week we finished up our unit on the human machine. Our last lesson was on the brain and nerves. Students tested their reflex skills by trying to catch their ruler as fast as possible. They had a blast. Students will be taking their science test soon. They have been making flashcards for awhile now to practice good study habits. We wrapped up our chapter 2 unit in math and took our test today. Chapter 3 will be multiplication and division. Please be practicing math fluency at home. Finally, students have been working on their math project. They have been gifted a luxurious vacation BUT they have to calculate their expenses!
Happy Friday!

In ELA this week we studied different verb tenses and dipped our toes into the concept of irregular verbs and how to incorporate them into our writing. We also had our first ever peer-review during Writer's Workshop! Students worked with their partner to review their Special Place writings for grade-level appropriate writing expectations. Final drafts are being constructed and will be available for viewing at conferences next week! In social studies students learned about longitude and latitude and practiced plotting points on maps and identifying cities on a map given their coordinates.
Next week, we'll begin our next reading unit: Point of View!
Have a great weekend!
