Week 30

Happy Friday! We have had a wonderful week. Wednesday the 24th is the Biography Fair, please make sure your child is memorizing their lines at home! Friday the 26th is casual dress.

This week has been busy for the students. We covered two topics in the science. The first topic we covered was heat energy. Students learned the concept of heat rising by balancing a spinner, putting it over a heat lamp, and seeing the spinner move. I wish I recorded their reactions because it was great! Once students understood this concept we moved into the discussion of renewable energy. Students were given three reports from three different towns using different renewable sources (windmills, solar panels, and water). After students read these reports and did some digging, they had to write a letter to their town council stating why they need to change to a renewable energy source of their choosing. Students will have a science test on Thursday over Energy. In math we completed a quick unit of multiplying fractions. We will continue to practice this skill and take a quiz either Wednesday or Friday (depending on students confidence with the skill). I will let everyone know when it will be on Monday.

Biography Fair is Wednesday, April, 24 9:00-9:45 am. This will be a drop in/walk through event! Students will be reciting their speeches repeatedly for other students and guests. Students can either come to school on Wednesday already dressed in their costume, or students can bring their costume to school on a hanger and they can change before Biography Fair. Students will have casual dress after. See you then!
