Week 29

ERB week is done! We are proud of the students hard work this week. Today we got to visit the high school and meet up with our Harris Hillman friends for a special day! Miss Wickes and I were happy to see the students working as a team during their service learning. Be sure to ask them about it this weekend! We ended our day today with Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. A reminder we do not have school on Friday!

The students are thrilled to be done with ERB’s. During the week I gave students the opportunity to work on their biography research for Katie’s class since we finished our math unit last week. When they were finished with their research they practiced adding fractions with a fun flip book activity. Now that ERB’s are behind us we can start a new math unit! We will work on multiplying fractions. I will be giving out their previous math test back on Monday, which means to be on the lookout for a parent signature sheet. In science next week we will also be working on heat energy and renewable energy. Please make sure to start studying their science vocabulary with them at home.

Happy Friday! With ERB's in the rearview, we are full steam ahead for our Biography fair! Students will transition from research to writing their essays. This is a lot of work for these young minds! Students will utilize their graphic organizers to create a clear plan forward for their writing. Towards the end of the week students will write their speeches for biography fair and begin to memorize it. We are so excited to share our work with you at the Biography Fair on April 24th at 9am. See you there :)

Please be sure to review the Letter to Grade 4 families detailing upcoming curriculum content.

In social studies, students will do a deep dive into everyday life in the colonial era. They will work in groups to research a selected topic, (school & work, food & farming, science & medicine, clothes & homes), and together they will create a powerpoint presentation to share with classmates. Everyone is eager to showcase their tech skills!

No school Friday!

~Katie
