Week 32

What a week! I feel confident in saying that today was the 4th graders favorite day since they got to see the yearbook! We are having them keep yearbooks at school over the weekend so they don’t get left behind at home for signature day! A reminder that Friday May 10th is Field Day! I know the school has sent emails about this special day. Katie and I will be carrying all the sunscreen. Last thing we want is a sunburnt 4th grader! Please make sure you have read the 4th grade newsletters. There is important information about our field trip and end of the year party.

I cant believe we are close to the end! This week in math students took their fractions quiz. They will receive their science test and quiz grades back on Monday! We started our money unit on Wednesday. This is a great unit for the students because they use their prior knowledge of decimals to add money. I think their favorite part is when I make up shopping scenarios for each student. We will see how they feel next week when there is a spending limit. 😂 In science students have been rocking through their science labs to get ready for their special guest next week. Students learned about location patterns for volcanos, cone vs shield volcanos, basalt vs felsite, thick vs thin lava, and erosion. Take a look at the photos to see all the amazing lab pictures.

T- 12.5 days!

Today in class students learned the true meaning of, "Taxation without representation,"  as they were repeatedly 'taxed' by the Queen of England for things like: wearing black or grey socks, having brown eyes, or participating in P.E. Our debt collectors were on the prowl, ensuring that each colonists paid their tax or otherwise went to prison. See attached photos for some laughs!

We will continue with the Revolutionary War next week!

Students completed their biography essays this week. Their hard work paid off and I'm so excited to share their work with you! Be on the lookout for those essays in the coming days. Students will have a vocabulary quiz on Thursday, May 9th.
