Week 3
It’s Friday! As always we like to start with a few reminders. First, next week we have two big things happening. On Monday we will have our first patchwork and on Wednesday we will be going on our first Field Trip!! We are so excited to go to the Nashville Children’s Theatre. Now that the first month is complete Katie and I are officially ready to attend our students after school activities. We have one rule for the students. We ask family members to send us an email with the date, time, and location. Sometimes our students are so excited to invite us that they tell us the wrong day! Confirmation from you all is helpful!
This short week we worked on vision in science. Students created their version of an eye to understand how all the different parts of the eye work together. By the end of the lesson, students were able to understand why people are far or near sighted. They will keep their eye next week so we can discuss how night vision works with animals. We have about two to three more weeks of this science unit which means the cow eye dissection is coming up. In math we wrapped up our discussion on rounding and they took their test today!! I am so proud of their hard work. Be on the lookout next week for a packet of graded items for you to look through.
Happy Weekend!

We had a busy short week in ELA and Social Studies! We continued practice with figurative language by learning the difference between similes and metaphors and adding both to our writing. Our grammar focus was pronouns and students engaged in a scoot-around-the-room to get our bodies moving while learning! Next week we will ~finally~ begin our Special Place writing. This is our culminating writing project to display our knowledge about figurative language and parts of speech.
We will have our first social studies quiz next Tuesday, September 12th. Students received a skills review sheet today and we discussed the different items they will be responsible for knowing. We practiced a bunch during class this week and had several homework assignments practicing these skills as well. Students will continue their continents research next week!
Have a great weekend!
