Week 21

The stage was set, the costumes were donned, and the excitement was palpable as the talented students took center stage for their much-anticipated class play. The air was filled with anticipation, and the young performers did not disappoint, delivering a performance that left the audience in awe. From the moment the curtain rose, it was evident that these stars had poured their hearts and souls into their roles. The level of dedication and enthusiasm displayed by each student was truly remarkable. Their commitment to learning lines and understanding the nuances of their characters was evident in every scene. The audience was taken on a journey through laughter thanks to the exceptional efforts of these budding thespians. One of the most heartening aspects of the performance was the sense of unity among the students. Every child had a unique role to play, and they worked together harmoniously to bring the production to life. The camaraderie and support displayed by the class not only added to the overall success of the play but also highlighted the importance of collaboration and teamwork. The play was a triumph of talent, dedication, and teamwork. Bravo to our class for a truly wonderful and memorable day of theatrical brilliance!

I am so excited to get back to fractions next week! We will spend time reviewing what we were learning before play practice. Students will be expected to take a quiz on ordering, comparing, and finding equivalent fractions next week. We will pick back up in science where we answer the question: “How can marbles save the world?”

Our next class novel is called The Tale of Despereaux. This novel is read INDEPENDENTLY (not at school). Students will read each section at their own pace and complete the questions in their Independent Study Guide (ISL). Some of the questions ask for specific details from the reading, and others ask for student's thoughts and reflections from the chapters. This book is divided into four little books. "Book the First" is titled, "A Mouse is Born" and it contains fifteen very short chapters- a total of 70 pages. We will read the first chapter together in class, then students should plan their time to have the first ISG completed by Friday, February 23rd. We will discuss ISG packets and ideas in a book club fashion at school. I will explain all of this and more to students on Monday :)
