Week 17
Happy Friday!! The short week went by quickly. It was amazing to see all the students come back to school with energy and smiling faces. A few key things to keep you in the loop. 1) please make sure our students are working on their play lines. Next week we start rehearsing with everyone together. 2) Next Friday we have our MLK assembly with formal dress. 3) No school on Monday the 15th. 4) Report cards will be released on Monday the 8th.
Since we only had three days of school we spent time reviewing concepts in math and getting ready for our new unit…FRACTIONS!!! The majority of Quarter 3 will be spent on fractions. Today we reviewed what a GCF is and played a fun game of multiplication soccer! The kids loved it and have requested it next week. I will make sure to do a recording next time so you can all see. In science we started with a fun anchor task to introduce our new unit, Energy! We also learned about Rube Goldberg. Next week we will start our labs. Be on the lookout for science vocabulary flashcards in their pencil pouch. The earlier they start studying for them, the better.

Happy New Year! Throughout our super short week we reviewed expectations, learned some new routines, and read more of our class novel. We will continue in our class novel next week and begin comparing characters and their growth throughout the story. Next week we will wrap up the midwest region with a quiz on Friday over the states. Please be sure students are studying their maps!
