Week 15

Happy Friday!

Please make sure you have read last weeks blog! Katie and I need to know if students will be leaving early/ gone any day next week. We want to make sure all grades and corrections are completed before they leave. Friday is a half day, winter party, holiday sing along, and play reveal! We are excited to hand out our students parts! Our Field Trip is on Wednesday 12/3. Parents are welcome to attend the writers session to see which songs get picked. 4R and 4W will have theirs at 9-10 followed by the tour. A heads up, you may need to pay to get in! We will make sure to record the songs that are chosen! We are so excited to see some of our songs come to life!

I always like to give my parents a heads up that I will be out for two days next week. My mother is graduating from her Masters Program so I will be traveling to Georgia. Those two days students will not have homework and there will be a sub. I will send a reminder to everyone in case there is a change of plans for hookup etc. We have finished word problems!! Yay! I quickly graded those tests and sent them home! Be on the lookout, if their test says “corrections” they need to make them and turn it back to me. Students can come in early to work on their makeups, but ultimately it is up to the student to get the retake done and resubmitted to me. Turning in their test was a little different this time around. Instead of turning it straight in students had to sit at their desk once the test was completed with their test. The thought is students have the opportunity to sit with their test the WHOLE time just in case they need to keep looking back at it or had a lightbulb moment. If you see drawings on their test, don’t be alarmed. They just needed something to do once they had looked over their test as much as they needed. Science tests will be printed and sent home on Monday! Next week we will begin a dive into our novel Frank Einstein. Students will get the opportunity to complete fun STEM challenges for science next week as well. When we get back from winter break we will start our math lesson on fractions.

**4R has been enjoying listening to an audio book during homeroom. We are listening to Walls with Walls (an old 4th grade novel they no longer use). Students are listening away to hear how the characters will solve the mystery!

Happy almost Winter Break!

Check the Velcro pouch in your child’s homework binder to review some recent grades that were sent home this week. Anything with a green stamp at the top is eligible for a retake. Students can come in early to work on their makeups, but ultimately it is up to the student to get the retake done and resubmitted to me.

We’ve been working hard on our state projects all week long. These will be due by next Thursday 12/14. Students have had L O T S of class time to get this project done and I’m so proud of their creativity and hard work. The last day to bring in a state snack is Thursday 12/14. Thank you again for supplying utensils and plates when necessary :)

We’re about halfway through our Shelby Holmes class novel. Students have been completing work/writings in class along the way. All of this work is due on Thursday 12/14. In class on Wednesday 12/6, students organized their work and figured out what they had missing to plan for what they needed to finish before the due date (12/14). Students will continue to get class time to finish/catch up, but it is ultimately the student’s responsibility to finish and submit this work on time.

Whew! Long post. Countdown to break = 5 school days!

Have a great weekend!
