Week 11

This week has been great but next week is going to be crazy! We have an assembly almost every day next week. Monday we have patchwork assembly, Tuesday we will see the third grade play then go to see Dr. Michael Thompson, Thursday we will watch the Middle School Play teaser, and FINALLY on Friday we have a formal assembly.

This week in math we have been reviewing long division. We are taking our time because I want to make sure students master the concept before moving on to the next topic. By Friday the students have been feeling more confident meaning a test should be coming up soon, possibly Friday. I want to make sure the students feel good about the test. This week is science we wrapped up our science lab from last week so we can start our new lab on Tuesday. Students have been enjoying this unit on sound. Keep practicing math facts at home and encourage our students to study their science vocabulary. The more they study now, the better they will feel.

This week in ELA we began our new class novel: The Great Shelby Holmes! Students have enjoyed the correlation between Shelby and Sherlock. In social studies students selected their state for their state research projects. Students are invited to bring in a snack that represents their state to share with the class. I have cookbooks in the classroom that students can explore for this, or you’re welcome to assist them at home with their snack research. There are no signups for which days to send the snack in. Whenever works for you works for me! Have a great week!
